Technical description: Ivory; one piece; gold strip protective inlay at mouthpiece [and foot]; 6 finger-holes plus thumb-hole; brass butterfly key for lowest tone-hole, under fontanelle (double touch for right- or left-handed use); removable replacement fontanelle with brass [originally gold] strip protective inlay at each end; ivory block, positioned slightly low in window; curved windway; lip slopes downwards; window approximately 7.5 *X* 15.8, but slightly irregular in shape due to slope of lip.Tone-hole details (distances are to hole centres):- Diameter Distance from foot, L0: 6.3 363.5. L1: 7.5 350. L2: 7.5 310. L3: 7.5 270. R1: 7.5 223. R2: 7.5 184. R3: 7.5 145. R4: 8.5 83. Keymount type: pillar. Keyhead type: square flat. Repair History: The fontanelle with brass strip protective inlay at each end and the brass key touchpiece are replacements, made to the order of Tony Bingham, 1998; the window has probably been enlarged.
Inscriptions :
Stamped below the window "!!", the `rabbit's foot' or `silkworm moth' mark which is probably the Bassano family mark (Lasocki 1995). No stamp on distal face of foot.

overall length 611; maximum outside diameter at head 39.4; minimum outside diameter (between L3 and R1 finger-holes) 34.6; maximum outside diameter at foot 51.6.
